It has to stand up on its own, on a wobbly table
A folded card standing in a tent shape is held up by friction at its base and nothing else. On a wiped table, or a slightly warped one, a light card slides flat within minutes.
A slot-lock base — two tabs that interlock under the fold — turns a leaning card into a rigid triangle. It costs nothing on the same cutting die and it is the difference between a tent that stands all service and one the staff keep re-standing.
Test it on a real table with a real wipe-down. Card that stands perfectly on a desk falls flat on a damp restaurant table.
Sizes, and what each is for
The commonest mistake is going too large. A tent that takes up a third of a two-person table gets moved to the side by the customer, where nobody reads it.

Both faces, and the third one people forget
- A two-sided tent is read by whoever it faces; the other diner sees the back.
- Print both faces differently only if the two audiences differ — otherwise repeat it.
- A three-sided tent works from any seat and stands more stably.
- The top edge is visible from standing height, which is where staff read table numbers.
It will get wet, greasy and wiped
A table tent lives on a surface that gets cleaned several times a day, and it is handled with the same hands that are eating. Uncoated card absorbs all of it and looks tired within a week.
A matte laminate wipes clean, survives a damp cloth and still takes a ballpoint if staff need to write on it. Gloss wipes just as well and reflects overhead lighting straight into a seated reader's eyes.
Changing the message without reprinting the tent
Promotions change weekly and card does not. A tent with a slot or a clear pocket takes a printed insert that can be swapped, so the branded outer is bought once and the message is a sheet of paper.
For anything seasonal that is far cheaper over a year than reprinting the whole tent — the same one-tool, many-messages logic as our commercial print range.
