Custom Scarf Boxes

Custom scarf boxes for a folded or a rolled scarf, from 100 units. A long shallow box for silk folded flat, a square box for wool rolled into a coil, a smooth tissue-lined interior for either — sized to the fold you use, because a scarf box built for the wrong fold arrives with the scarf creased.

Two folds, two boxes

Silk is thin and creases at a sharp fold, so a silk box is as flat as the folded stack allows and the scarf goes in with a tissue layer between each fold. Wool has loft and fills a box; a rolled coil in a square box keeps the loft and shows the pattern on the outside of the roll.

An interior that does not mark silk

Silk picks up marks from a raw board edge and from the crease of a folded box wall. The inside faces are coated or wrapped, the edges the scarf touches are folded rather than cut, and a tissue liner is standard — the same smooth-interior rules we apply to lingerie boxes for delicate fabric. Wool is more forgiving of the box and less forgiving of being crushed; it needs the depth more than the surface.

A silk scarf in a box that is even slightly too small gets a hard crease at the edge where it was forced in. We size the flat box a quarter inch over the folded stack on every side.

The lid, and how the scarf is found

  • A lift-off lid on a flat box, with the scarf folded so the pattern shows as the tissue parts — the silk-house format.
  • A ribbon tied across the lid, which on a square box is what makes it a gift.
  • A magnetic flap on a rigid box for a cashmere set, printed inside the lid.
  • A drawer for a rolled scarf, so it slides out as a coil with the pattern facing up.
Close detail of the print finish on scarf boxes

A scarf box is often kept as a drawer box for the scarf, which changes the print brief: the box should look right on a shelf at home, which means restraint on the outside and a printed or lined interior that is pleasant every time it opens. A single color with a foil or blind-embossed logo is the silk-house convention. For a wool line, kraft with a one-color print reads as the fiber it holds. The shallow-box construction is shared with our boutique boxes for folded apparel; the scarf box is the longer, flatter version of it.

Frequently asked questions

Got a question about scarf boxes? The answers below cover what we get asked most. If yours is not here, send it with a brief, message us on WhatsApp, or call +1 503-461-4788 — we reply the same working day.

Flat box or square box?

Flat for silk folded, square for wool rolled. Silk creases if rolled tight; wool loses its loft if folded into a shallow box.

Will the box mark the silk?

No. The inside faces are coated or wrapped, the edges are folded rather than cut, and a tissue liner sits between the board and the scarf.

What size for a folded silk square?

About 8 × 8 × 1 in for a 35 in square folded to eight layers, sized a quarter inch over the stack. Send us your fold and we confirm.

Can the scarf be rolled?

Yes, in a square box the height of the coil, standing on end so the pattern shows on the outside of the roll. A drawer box slides it out as a coil.

Do you supply the tissue?

Yes, cut to the box and to the fold, in a brand color or plain. Silk needs a layer between each fold.

Ribbon or magnet?

Ribbon on a two-piece box for the gift reveal; a magnetic flap on a rigid box for a cashmere set that is opened often.

Can I print inside?

Yes, and for a box that is kept it matters — a lined or printed interior is seen every time it opens.

Does it ship flat?

The carton version does. Rigid boxes ship assembled.

Can I ship it on its own?

Inside a mailer, yes. The scarf box is presentation; a rigid mailer or a padded envelope takes the courier.

What is the minimum order?

100 boxes per size. Flat cartons run many-up on a sheet.

How long does production take?

It depends on the build and the finish. We give a date with the quote rather than a number before we have seen the spec.

Will you send a sample?

A white sample in your size, so you can fold or roll a scarf into it and check for creases before print.
