Custom Baseball Cap Boxes

Custom baseball cap boxes that hold the crown up and the brim flat, from 100 units. A cap that ships loose arrives creased; ours sits on a crown form inside a box shaped to the brim, in a retail two-piece for the shelf or a corrugated version that goes straight in the mail.

A cap is a shape, and the box has to keep it one

Crown up, brim flat

The crown is held by a paperboard form — a folded dome or a ring — that the cap sits over so the panels cannot collapse. The brim lies in a channel at the front of the box, flat against the floor, or curved on a shaped platform if the cap is sold pre-curved. Box height is the crown height plus a half inch; box length is the crown depth plus the brim, which is why a cap box is longer than it looks like it should be.

Retail box, or the one that ships

On a shelf the cap box is a two-piece with a lift-off lid or a hinged lid with a window, in paperboard, printed for the brand. In the mail it is a corrugated box with the same crown form inside and an ear-lock or tuck-top lid, built to be the shipping carton — the construction on our ear lock mailer boxes with a locking lid page, with the form added. Most cap brands run both, and the crown ring is the same part in each.

A window in the lid over the front panel of the cap shows the logo embroidery, which is what a cap is bought on. Put it over the crown front, not the brim.

The crown form, three ways

  • A folded paperboard ring the crown sits over — cheapest, ships flat, holds a structured cap.
  • A domed paperboard form for a premium box, which fills the crown fully.
  • A tissue-stuffed crown for an unstructured cap that has no shape to keep.
  • For a fitted cap, the ring is sized to the fitted size so the sweatband is not stretched.
Close detail of the print finish on baseball cap boxes

Cap boxes on a shelf sit lid-up and end-out, so the end panel carries the size and the colorway, and the lid carries the brand. A kraft two-piece with a one-color logo suits a streetwear brand; a black box with a foil logo suits a team or a premium line. The garment box logic on our shirt boxes for folded apparel page applies to the lid and base; the difference here is the height and what is inside.

Frequently asked questions

Got a question about baseball cap boxes? The answers below cover what we get asked most. If yours is not here, send it with a brief, message us on WhatsApp, or call +1 503-461-4788 — we reply the same working day.

Will the cap keep its shape?

Yes — the crown sits over a paperboard ring or dome so the panels cannot collapse, and the brim lies flat in its own channel. That is the point of a cap box.

What size box for a standard cap?

About 9 × 8 × 5.5 in for a structured cap with a flat brim. A curved brim shortens the box slightly; a dad cap folds into a smaller one.

Can I ship in it?

Yes, in the corrugated version with a locking lid and the same crown form. The retail paperboard box goes inside a mailer.

Can I have a window?

Yes, in the lid over the crown front, so the embroidery shows. Not over the brim.

Does it work for a fitted cap?

Yes — the ring is sized to the fitted size so the sweatband is not stretched in the box.

Can it hold two caps?

Yes, stacked on two rings in a tall box, or side by side in a wide one.

Does the box ship flat?

Yes, the box and the ring are die-cut and fold flat. The domed form is a separate part that also folds.

Kraft or printed?

Kraft with a one-color logo for streetwear; black with foil for a team or premium line. Both are common.

Is it recyclable?

Yes, box and form are plain paperboard or corrugated. A window film is the one part to leave out if that matters.

What is the minimum order?

100 boxes. The box and the crown ring are die-cut and reuse the same dies on reorder.

How long does production take?

It depends on the style and the quantity. We give a date with the quote rather than a number before we have seen the spec.

Will you send a sample?

An unprinted box with the crown ring, so you can box your cap and check the fit before print.
