Hot and cold need opposite packs
A chilled sandwich in a vented pack dries at the crust within a couple of hours on a shelf. A toasted one in a sealed pack is limp before it reaches the customer. Selling both from the same counter means two packs, not one.

If one pack has to do both, vent it and accept the shorter chilled life. Soggy is a complaint; slightly dry is not.
The wedge, and why it is shaped like that
The classic wedge carton exists because a sandwich cut diagonally is a triangle, and a triangular box holds it upright with the cut face forward. That cut face is the product photograph — it is why the window is always on the front panel.
Wedges also stack in a chiller with almost no wasted space, which is the reason they took over from square boxes in retail.
Windows sell the filling and cost you shelf life
A fogged window hides the product completely, which is the one thing the window was bought to prevent. On anything moving between a chiller and a warm shop, specify anti-fog.
- The cut face is the entire selling proposition on a pre-made sandwich.
- A filmed window is a moisture barrier, which is right for a chilled pack.
- An open die-cut window is wrong for chilled and fine for hot service.
- Anti-fog film exists and costs more; on a chilled pack it is usually worth it.
Wraps, cones and things eaten in the hand
Shawarma, burritos and rolled wraps are eaten standing up, so the pack has to hold the bottom together while the top is open. A paper cone or a sealed-bottom sleeve does that; a flat wrap does not, and the filling ends up on the floor.
Greaseproof paper inside the sleeve catches what escapes and doubles as the surface the customer holds — the paper options are set out in our food service paper notes.
Labeling a made-up food
A sandwich made and packed on the same premises where it is sold has lighter labeling requirements than one made centrally and delivered. If yours travels between sites, the full ingredient and allergen list applies, and it needs real space.
Fourteen allergens listed legibly on a wedge carton is a design constraint, not an afterthought. Reserve the panel before the front is designed.
