Keeping the air off it
Plain paperboard breathes, and a bath bomb in a plain carton on a humid shelf will start to react through the box. The reliable answer is a barrier between bomb and board: a shrink-wrap or a compostable cellulose film around the bomb, with the carton as the printed outer. Where brands want the bomb loose in the box, a poly-coated or wax-laminated board slows the moisture and a tight tuck helps, but it does not seal.
We are direct about this because it is the most common complaint in the category: the bomb looked perfect leaving the workshop and arrived with a white bloom on it.

Holding a sphere still
The cradle hole is the critical dimension. Cut to the bomb diameter and the bomb drops through; cut 15 percent under and it sits proud with the color showing.
- A die-cut cradle with a circular hole slightly under the bomb diameter, so it sits in the ring and cannot roll.
- Corrugated or paperboard dividers for sets of four or six, each cell a cradle.
- A tuck-in platform with a domed cut-out for flat-bottomed bombs.
- A tray-and-sleeve build where the tray is the cradle and the sleeve carries the print.
The window question
A bath bomb is bought on color and the window is how the color sells. Cut it in the lid over a cradled bomb and the bomb is framed; leave the window open and humidity has a way in; cover it with PET film and it is closed. We recommend the film whenever the bomb is not separately wrapped, and it is the same construction we use on windowed candle boxes for glass jars.
Bath bombs shed glitter and pigment. A colored or kraft interior hides the dust a white one shows after a week on the shelf.
Singles, pairs, and the gift set
A single-bomb carton is a small cube, usually 2.5–3 in on a side, and runs cheaply many-up. A pair or a set of four moves to a shallow tray with dividers under a lid or a sleeve. Sets are where most of the value is, and the same tray-and-lid approach is what we build for bath salt boxes with fitted trays when a brand combines the two.
For a set that ships, a snug fit does more than any amount of cushioning — a bomb that cannot move cannot hit anything.

A folding carton is one sheet of board, so the board is the product. These are the stocks we run for cartons, what each is good at, and where it lets you down.

Unbleached folding board. Warm, hides marks, costs least. Mutes color — one or two flat colors print well, photographs do not.

Bleed
3 mm past every trim line, so a fraction of drift on the cutter never leaves a white edge.

Keep type and anything important 4 mm inside the cut and away from every fold.
Color
Convert to CMYK before sending. Uncoated stock prints lighter; a spot color is the only exact match.
Fonts
Outline them or supply the files. A missing font substitutes silently and the proof will not match.
Barcodes
On a light, matte, unvarnished patch with the quiet zone clear — a code on gloss fails the scanner.

Sizing a folding carton so the die comes out right: bath bomb boxes
Measure the product, not the box it is in now. A carton is built around what has to fit inside it, assembled — cap on, lid fitted, folded if it folds — at its widest point in each direction. Send those three numbers and say which is which.
- Length x width x height
- Internal, always. External dimensions include the board and are what the carrier measures, not what the product needs.
- Clearance
- 2–3 mm a side for a snug fit; more where an insert or void fill goes in. A carton cut exactly to the product is slow to pack and transmits every knock.
- Board thickness
- Heavier board takes internal space from the product. It matters most on small boxes, where four walls of 24pt is a real share of the cavity.
- Varies between batches?
- Glass, textiles, molded parts and cured soap all do. Measure several and build to the largest.
- Cutting tolerance
- Plus or minus 1 mm on folding board. Confirmed on a plain sample before the run.
- Units
- Metric or imperial, as long as you say which. Mixing them in one spec is where mistakes happen.

Will the box stop the bomb from going off in humidity?
On its own, no — paperboard breathes. A shrink or cellulose film around the bomb is the barrier; the carton is the printed outer around it. Coated board slows it but does not seal.
How do you stop the bomb rolling around?
A die-cut cradle ring cut about 15 percent under the bomb diameter, so it sits in the ring with the top showing and cannot move.
Can I have a window?
Yes, in the lid or the front, with PET film so the window does not let air in. An open window is a humidity path.
What size box for a standard bomb?
Most bombs are 2.5–2.75 in across, which gives a 3 in cube carton. Send us the actual diameter and we cut the cradle to it.
Do you make boxes for sets?
Yes, trays with cell dividers for two, four or six under a lid or a sleeve. Sets are where the value is.
Is kraft board suitable?
Yes, and it hides the glitter and pigment dust a bomb sheds. Pair it with a film wrap on the bomb for the moisture barrier.
Will the box survive shipping?
A cradled bomb in a snug carton inside a shipping box, yes. Movement is what breaks bombs, so the cradle matters more than cushioning.
Can the whole thing be compostable?
With a cellulose film wrap and an uncoated kraft carton, yes. The PET window is the part to leave out for that build.
What is the minimum order for bath bomb boxes?

Do you supply the shrink film?
We can supply shrink bands sized to your bomb. Most makers already have a heat gun and wrap in-house.
