Sized to the card, exactly

A rigid case is cut to the stack plus 1.5 mm a side. Any more and the cards slide and dent at the corners; the fit is confirmed on a plain sample with your cards in it.

Lift-off, hinged or drawer

  • Lift-off lid — two pieces, the slow cushioned lift; the classic.
  • Hinged magnetic lid — one piece, opens with a thumb, closes with a click; the everyday case.
  • Drawer in a sleeve — the stack slides out; a ribbon pull; the most tactile.
  • A thumb cut-out on any of them, so one card slides out without opening the case.

Wrap and foil that match the card

The case is wrapped in a single-color paper — soft-touch, linen, leather-grain — with a foil or blind-debossed mark on the lid. Where we print the cards, the same foil die and color run on both, so the case and the card are one object. A colored liner inside shows when the lid lifts. Our business card packaging for every run size covers the tuck boxes the case is refilled from.

Board and the feel of a small rigid box

1.2–1.5 mm grayboard gives a case that is heavy for its size without being clumsy. Thicker board on a box this small makes the walls thick relative to the cards. Corners are turned cleanly and the wrap is mitred, which on a small case is visible at arm's length and is where a cheap case shows itself.

A magnetic lid needs a lid wide enough for the magnet. On a 58 mm case it fits; on a mini-card case it may not, and a lift-off lid is used.

Who orders rigid card cases

Law and finance firms, agencies and studios, luxury brands, and executives who print thick cards. Runs are 100 to 500 cases, one per person, refilled from tuck boxes of cards. The dies and the wrap are kept, so a new joiner gets a case that matches the rest.

Frequently asked questions

Got a question about rigid business card boxes? The answers below cover what we get asked most. If yours is not here, send it with a brief, message us on WhatsApp, or call +1 503-461-4788 — we reply the same working day.

How many cards does a rigid case hold?

50 or 100 on standard 400 gsm card, and fewer of a thick cotton or duplex card. Depth is set from a measured stack.

Can I slide a card out without opening it?

Yes, with a thumb cut-out on the case.

Lift-off or magnetic lid?

Magnetic for an everyday case opened often; lift-off for the slow, cushioned reveal.

Will the foil match my cards?

Yes. The same die and foil color run on the case and, if we print them, on the cards.

What is the minimum order?

100 cases.

Does it ship flat?

No, rigid cases arrive assembled.

Can the inside be colored?

Yes, a colored liner that shows when the lid lifts.

What board thickness do you use?

1.2–1.5 mm grayboard, heavy enough to feel solid without thick walls on a small box.

Can a mini card have a magnetic lid?

Usually not — the lid is too narrow for a magnet. A lift-off lid is used instead.

Can I get a sample?

Yes, plain, with your cards in it, to confirm the fit.

Can I order more later to match?

Yes. The dies and the wrap stock are kept, so a new case matches the rest.

Do you ship outside the US?

Yes, to the United States, United Kingdom, Canada and Australia, quoted in the delivery currency.
