Packaging built for Texas heat, not for a temperate warehouse

A spec that behaves perfectly in a Portland warehouse can fail in a Houston delivery van in July. Temperature is the variable most suppliers ignore and the one that actually decides a Texas specification.

What heat does to a box

None of these is exotic. They are the four things we check before quoting anything that will sit in a Gulf Coast summer, and they narrow the barrier choice quickly. Our note on barrier options covers what each one tolerates.

  • PLA linings soften above roughly 40°C — a parked delivery vehicle passes that easily.
  • Adhesives on glued seams creep in sustained heat, so a heavy box wants a mechanical lock.
  • Gloss lamination blocks — sheets stick to each other — in a hot dry store.
  • Uncoated kraft absorbs humidity and loses rigidity, then recovers warped.

Volume food service is the local pattern

Texas orders skew larger and more repetitive than the coasts — barbecue, tex-mex and quick-service chains ordering the same tray and clamshell month after month, rather than a beauty brand ordering three hundred of a new carton.

That changes the economics. At those quantities litho beats digital comfortably, and a second die for a variant pays for itself in weeks rather than never.

Inland freight from the Gulf

Houston is one of the cheapest entry points into the US, and Dallas–Fort Worth is a short inland run from it. For brands distributing across the South Central states, landing stock in Texas and moving it out is usually cheaper than landing it closer to each market.

Texas questions

Do you deliver to Houston, Dallas and Austin?

Yes — the freight leg lands in Houston and forwards across the state. Address sets the last leg.

Do you quote in USD?

Yes, for every US delivery, freight included.

Does Texas heat change the packaging?

For anything that melts or softens — chocolate, candles, cosmetics — yes. A light-colored box, clearance and a corrugated outer buy hours in a hot van.

Will adhesives hold in a hot warehouse?

Standard carton glue softens above about 40°C. Tell us the pack will be stored hot and we specify a heat-tolerant adhesive.

How do I contact you from Texas?

Call or WhatsApp +1 503-461-4788, or send a brief through the site.

Is there a minimum order for Texas?

The same as everywhere — 100 units.

Are your food boards PFAS-free?

Yes, as standard. Texas does not restrict PFAS the way California does yet, but the same board serves both.

Will a compostable box survive a Texas summer?

A PLA lining will not, reliably. It softens above about 40°C and a delivery vehicle passes that. Fluorine-free coated board is the safer compostable-adjacent option here.

Do you quote pallet quantities?

Yes, and the price per unit falls sharply at that scale. Ask for pallet pricing alongside your first quote so you can see the curve.

Can you ship direct to a Dallas warehouse?

Yes. Delivered pricing covers the inland leg, and splitting across two Texas destinations is usually cheaper than one delivery plus a transfer.
