Two rules that change the specification

SB 54 pushes all single-use packaging in the state toward being recyclable or compostable, with producer responsibility attached. In practice that means film lamination on a food or consumer box is a decision with a cost attached rather than a free finish.

Proposition 65 is a labeling rule, not a materials rule, but it catches packaging components more often than brands expect — particularly inks and adhesives on imported stock. We can supply component declarations for anything we print.

What California brands actually order

The mix is unlike anywhere else we ship. Beauty and skincare from Los Angeles and Orange County, specialty food and beverage from the Bay Area and the Central Valley, and a long tail of direct-to-consumer brands who need a mailer that photographs well.

Almost all of it is short-run and repeat rather than one large order — which is the pattern our cosmetic carton builds are set up for.

Freight into the West Coast

Long Beach and Oakland are the entry points, and both are close enough to the major population centers that inland freight is short. That makes California one of the cheaper US states to land packaging into, and it is worth consolidating orders to take advantage of it.

If you are splitting stock between a California warehouse and one further east, tell us at quote stage — two smaller deliveries usually cost less than one delivery plus a domestic transfer.
