Sizes and the stack height

The lid height is the decision: a tall stack in a low lid is squashed shut. Send the burger as it is served, and we size the lid to it.

SliderAbout 90 × 90 × 60 mm
SingleAbout 110 × 110 × 70 mm; the standard
Double or loadedAbout 130 × 130 × 90–100 mm; a deeper lid

The hinge and the lock

  • A scored hinge along the back, on board that folds a thousand times without cracking.
  • A tab on the lid that locks into a slot on the base — firm enough for a bag, opened with a thumb.
  • Vents in the lid or the sides, so steam escapes and the bun stays firm.
  • A base with locked corners that carries a wet burger flat.

Board that takes grease and heat

Grease-resistant boxboard or E flute with a liner, 18–24pt by size, the resistance in the sheet and no PFAS. Food-safe inks outside; the inside plain. A bagasse clamshell holds heat better and composts; a board clamshell prints in full color and ships flat. Our bagasse burger boxes molded from sugarcane are the alternative.

Vents are placed away from the print and from the base, so the box vents without leaking.

Close detail of the print finish on burger clamshell boxes

Clamshells are stacked flat behind a counter and pulled from a delivery bag. A color and the brand on the lid, a message inside the lid, a tick-box for the build — one or two colors on kraft or full color on white. The inside lid is what the customer reads first.

Runs, cases and the line

Clamshells ship flat in cases of 200 to 500 and fold at the counter in a second. A hundred is an event; a case a day is a busy counter. The die per size and the plates are kept.

Frequently asked questions

Got a question about burger clamshell boxes? The answers below cover what we get asked most. If yours is not here, send it with a brief, message us on WhatsApp, or call +1 503-461-4788 — we reply the same working day.

What sizes do you make?

Slider, single, double and burger-and-fries, with the lid height set from the burger as it is served.

Will the hinge tear?

Not on a properly scored hinge in the right board. It is designed to fold many times without cracking.

Does the lock hold in a delivery bag?

Yes, a tab into a slot, firm enough for a bag and opened with a thumb.

Will the bun go soggy?

Not with vents placed to let steam out and a grease-resistant board that does not sweat.

Is it PFAS-free?

Yes.

What is the minimum order?

100 boxes.

Does it ship flat?

Yes, in cases of 200 to 500, folding at the counter in a second.

Can I print inside the lid?

Yes, a message or a tick-box for the build, which is what the customer reads first.

Board or bagasse?

Board prints full color and ships flat; bagasse holds heat better and composts. Both are available.

Can it hold fries as well?

Yes, a wider clamshell with a divider.

Are the inks food safe?

Yes, with a plain interior.

Do you ship outside the US?

Yes, to the United States, United Kingdom, Canada and Australia, quoted in the delivery currency.
